About Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center
The Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Huntington Beach, California with the mission to educate the public about man's impact on the environment and mitigate that impact through care and rehabilitation of native wildlife.

In 1990, over 400,000 gallons of crude oil spilled off the coast of Huntington Beach sickening over 1,200 birds. Fewer than half of the birds survived despite treatment at a makeshift facility. Following the spill, we began taking steps toward providing a permanent facility capable of responding to the wildlife injured in future toxic spills and other interactions with people. Eight years later, our efforts paid off when the Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center opened in March of 1998. Since then, we have cared for over 80,000 birds and mammals. They have come in with oiled feathers or fur, fishing line and hooks, shot with arrows and bullets, hit by cars, or orphaned, just to name a few.
